What a wonderful week of variety and contrasts! We have travelled through time from pre-history and beautiful cave paintings, to medieval castles, to the home of Josephine Baker, 1920's Folies Bergères dancer, resistance fighter and general philanthropist (Les Milandes).
We've eaten with the truckers at Lou Marmitou and in the cosy decadence of La Tupina (awesome recommendations Tony!)
From the busy streets of Bordeaux to sleepy villages, sunshine to wild thunderstorms, you can't find a much better place for experiencing the spice of life.
La Feuillade was more lovely than we could have imagined from the website- it had everything we needed and made a fantastic base for our expeditions as well as a wonderful retreat when we fancied a day or two of complete relaxation.
There is a real talent in this family for making the perfect holiday experience and giving little touches of delight everywhere you go, from the hand-painted signs to chicken chasing to fabulous advice and recommendations, we really couldn't have asked for more.

A return visit did not disappoint even though the welcoming weather soon succumbed to our presence. La Feuillade remains a special place to visit as a haven of peace and tranquility promoting a better perspective on life.
Of particular note this year are the gravel beds and changing gardens together with the adventure playground for children. Bear-hunting in the woodland, feeding chickens and swimming and playing in and around the pool were memorable experiences for our children.
Witnessing the early evening storm with the sun still setting on the trees, battered by the wind and torrential rain with a backdrop of thunder and lightening and a rainbow, whilst enjoying an obligatory candlelit dinner all contributed to another unforgettable holiday.
Most of all the hospitality, thoughtfulness, and the 'crack' with the Newells make the La Feuillade experience particularly worthwhile.

Easter has never been so fab! We've had a ball- a couple of dinner dances and a bijou tea party as well!
What a relaxing time - I've even reduced the number of times I look at my Blackberry- got it down to only 427 times a day - unreal!
You have a truly wonderful home and are a remarkable family. We have all enjoyed ourselves so much. the wine growers of the region will no doubt be working overtime to replenish the severe dent we have made in their supplies these past 10 days!
We arrived as grey faced, overworked townies and left as bronzed Adonis super hunks! We enjoyed our travels to Brantome, Bordeaux, Sarlat and St Emilion, and to the English cinema night in Mussidan. Your top tip about eating at La Tupina in Bordeaux was spot on. We'll be spending the next 3 weeks in the gym to make amends! Thanks for everything.

Our second visit to La Feuillade. We have enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of Sonia and Tony, not forgetting Felix and Ellie!
The new attractions include the river walk and the completed swimming pool. We have explored new walks from "Dordogne à pied" which are all fab, (especially St Laurent Des Hommes and Manzac Sur Vern). We look forward to news of the new arrival "Ollie", sorry we missed you, but you were here in body! Thanks for all the wine, we hope that the bottle bank can cope!

As we depart, it is with not a little envy and with considerable admiration for the "enterprise" that we bid you 'au revoir'.
La Feuillade proved to be a very good choice for experiencing rural life in France. The local special skill of 'puffling', the sampling of produits splendide du patron, the riverside views and wildlife, the exhilarating pool, the variety of weather, and especially the warm hospitality of the Newells contributed to an experience most pleasing to the senses.
Great for the children, and for the adults.
