Ruth and Tyler Tate (USA)

Of all the places to lay my head there are few that I'd recommend more than Tony and Sonia's beautiful ivy-clad cottage tucked away in rural France.

The property is beautifully presented with a calm river running by, lovely swimming pool, and woods to explore.

The cottage is cosy haven with a tastefully done kitchen, sweetly designed kid's bedroom, and the master bedroom feels like a sanctuary- peaceful and light-filled.

Locally, you will be spoiled with award winning bread and pastry from the local bakery and French home-style cooking from the local restaurant for a ridiculously low cost (5 courses including wine, coffee, and dessert for €13).

I'd recommend a trip to Bordeaux, St Emilion, Lac Jamaye (if you have young children this is a must!), Bourdeilles, and Beynac.

We had the pleasure of visiting in the autumn when, I imagine, the Dordogne is at its finest. The trees flaunted fluorescent yellow colours, the vines were heavy laden with grapes, the air crisp in the morning, and al fresco dining delightful in the evening. Walnuts and sweet chestnuts littered the ground beneath their trees and this season's wine filled the grocer's shelves. Tourist destinations are yours to explore in serenity without the tourist paparazzi.

However, none the previously mentioned things holds a candle to the delight in making a friendship with Tony and Sonia. They are some of the most hospitable and kindest people I have had the privilege of meeting. They immediately made us feel at home and welcome.

Whether your stay be for one or two weeks or even a couple months like us, I can guarantee it won't be long enough.

Breath a sigh of relief- you no longer need to spend hours researching your perfect holiday destination- you have found it! I'm already jealous of the holiday that awaits you!!

Tricia and Colin Fishwick

Our first visit to this region and this beautiful cottage.

Despite rather mixed weather we were out and about with our teenagers and enjoyed relaxing back here too.

Tony and Sonia are very warm and friendly, and a mine of local information. Thanks to their tips on the blue info sheets we had a wonderful lunch, (menu du jour), at Au Bien Bon in Perigueux, enjoyed market day there (Weds) as well as at St Astier (Thurs).

We ventured as far as the coast, climbed the sand dune at Pyla, jumped over waves at the nearby beach Corniche and ate at Arcachon.

This is a wonderful place to relax, thanks Tony,Sonia and family, not forgetting Ruby, for making it so.

Jonathon and Kirsty Cobb

Thank you Tony and Sonia for letting us stay in your marvelous barn.

We all had a ball from 4-77!

Rounders, Granny's birthday, Tony's mussels, the pool and general fun was all fantastic.

Natasha wants to move here- for more than one reason!

Hopefully we will be back- if we can get in!

Clancy and Spud Murphy

Our third Murphy visit.

Wonderful to be back.

Great to have two weeks and to do some more exploring.

Thank you Tony, Sonia, Ollie, Felix and Ellie for a relaxing happy break.

See you next year!

Taylor and Hussein families.

Just a little note to say thank you for a lovely holiday. You're great hosts and made us feel very welcome.

The kids loved the pool and we spent many an evening sat relaxing drinking lovely wine!

Just to echo Louisa's comments, what a  fantastic holiday.

Your barn is stunning and you are amazing hosts.

We really couldn't have asked for anything more.

Thank you for everything.

Victoria Brown

What an excellent and relaxing holiday!

Warm hospitality, great home produce and an idyllic cottage helped us unwind and enjoy France.

Issigeac, Cadouin, Brantome and the caves at Lascaux II are well worth visiting.

P.S If you can't find Ruby, it's because we've dog-napped her, she's gorgeous!

Exactly what the Dr ordered!

A week in beautiful la Feuillade cottage. From the lavender, to the table tennis, to the pool, to the trampoline, to the exquisite decor, to the bed....
....just magical for a weary Glaswegian family in need of some 'tlc'.

We visited: Bordeaux- Beautiful!
St Astier market (Thurs) -amazing Vietnamese food.
The lake @ Lac Jamaye- on 3 occasions! Brilliant for kids!
All of the above highly recommended.

Thank you to Tony and Sonia for their hospitality (salads, raspberries, eggs and advice) and pre-ordered weather (31'C + Amazing!)
