Many thanks for looking after us this last week.
My husband and I stayed in the barn at la Feuillade last week (September) as I had some family business to attend to in the vicinity.
We couldn't have wished for a lovelier base, the building was renovated with exquisite taste and is both very cosy and airy. Being woken up by the sun piercing through the beautiful top floor windows every morning was heavenly. The surrounding nature is charming - wild rabbits fleeing in a jumble of paws and white tails when driving back in the evening and amorous doves flying around the pigeonnier by the swimming pool whilst large white butterflies flutter about the pretty garden. Tony and Sonia were the consummate hosts, making sure we wanted for nothing (wonderful home-made jams, delicious eggs and a picnic blanket and hamper to go and sample some local wine by the river were swiftly provided) and I would most definitely recommend La Feuillade.
In fact it pains me to write a review as I would much rather keep this place to myself :)

A beautiful area and a very nice cottage. We enjoyed relaxing in the courtyard and by the pool, and many walks down to the river (but no kingfishers!).
Things to see? The gardens at Sardy and at Manoir d'Eyrignac. The Mushroom market at Montpazier was fun , as was the fruit and veg market in Bergerac. Pottering along the back roads, enjoying the scenery and the many villages, was a pleasure.

Thanks Tony, Sonia and Ollie for a great week. Wonderful house (barn) and such a great place for the kids to enjoy. We all enjoyed the rounders game, especially sweaty Nigel!
Hope to be back one day!

This is our second week/year in this lovely holiday cottage, and once again it has lived up to every expectation. Tony and Sonia were the loveliest of hosts, and we couldn't have been made more welcome.
The memories will linger forever, not least our times playing "cheat" Uno round the pool with Ollie! That boy will go far!
Thank you once again for your wonderful hospitality and generous spirits.
See you next time!

What a pleasure to be "hosted" by such a lovely family as yours, in such a beautiful place in an enchanting part of France. The wine has all gone, but the memories will remain. Thank you all so much for all your family's help in making this a memorable holiday.

The McAlpines
We had a wonderful time in the cottage. The attention to detail and personal touches make the accomodation a lovely place to relax and enjoy.
Sky tv, dvd players and old school games went down very well with our girls ( 9+5 ) when the "pluie" interrupted the blue skies. WiFi for big people is a real plus too.
Homemade jams (fig is yum) and fresh eggs and delicious raspberries were a real treat. Tony and Sonia were superb hosts who are always on hand with advice, local knowledge (do ask them) and friendly chat.
Our favourite places were Bergerac, Perigueux and Riberac and Dune de Pyla (huge sand dune, 2 hrs drive but stunning).
Our week flew by in this home from home which we are sad to leave.

Thank you Sonia and Tony for a very warm welcome and making sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. Having done a thorough tasting, I think the plum jam got the gold star, apricot a close second - naturally strawberry didn't make it! Great tips from Tony- but we didn't see the kingfisher. But Park and Ride in Bordeaux very useful. Recommend Le Relais de Gabillou in particular- quality and quantity and we enjoyed a great day in Bordeaux. Thanks again.

The Pullens
A wonderful stay had by the Pullen family (girls 4 and 2). The situation and location are brilliant. In particular we all enjoyed Etang de la Jemaye (lake with sandy beach, playground and café!). St Emilion is definitely worth a visit (but don't take the pushchair!) Perigueux is beautiful and good for restaurants and shops. Finally our favourite market was St Astier, which is a very picturesque town. Thank you for making our stay so special, we hope to visit again!

Unfortunately global warming seems to have bypassed La Feuillade this week with quite un- seasonable weather ( we even had the wood burner on.) However it did not rain all of the time (just most) and allowed us to get out to Perigueux , Bergerac etc, and also to do a little walking (highly recommended) at Etang Jamaye and St Laurent des Hommes.
Visited a couple of local restaurants (Auberge de Musée and Le Relais de Gabillou) and would recommend both for great food at good prices.
Finally a quick word on the fishing. despite all the rain (and consequent muddy brown fast water), the river once again yielded good catches of Bream, Roach and Ide.Thank you Sonia and Tony for your hospitality which makes La Feuillade a truly outstanding place to stay.
