What a great action packed holiday made extra special by the great accomodation, grounds,wildlife and game of rounders.
The only downside of the whole week is the beds. They are just too damn comfortable!
It was an effort to get out and about by noon!

We loved the stylishly decorated cottage with our own private garden.
The shower/bath were great- the kids loved being able to lie down!
There's lots to do and explore in the garden- tho' we didn't see a kingfisher!
Great local boulangerie.
The children loved the swimming pool.
I loved Sonia's Brocante!
For me comfortable beds and nice sheets and towels made it a real holiday!

Two fantastic weeks - one in the cottage and one in the barn.
A great setting, lots to do in the area when it rains and the best cottage and barn we have stayed in.
The chickens provide entertainment & the grounds are amazing for children. Indeed, they are so great that Lucie is staying for an extra week with her cousins.
Now the sun has arrived La Feuillade will be left with happy memories and a 4 year old who can now swim a width of the pool!

Thank you to the Newell family for such a fabulous holiday; beautiful surroundings, adorable cottage and wonderful hosts....
After two weeks we feel totally relaxed (if not a few pounds heavier!).
Martha has had the best 2 weeks playing with Ollie... see you in twenty years for the wedding!!!It's such a safe environment that Ava has enjoyed being able to toddle around freely and we've created some wonderful family moments.
We would definitely recommend La Jemaye - Very safe beach for little ones.
We very much look forward to seeing you again in the future, au revoir and merçi x

We've enjoyed a lovely break, especially relaxing by the pool, watching the butterflies and bunnies down by the river and generally eating and drinking too much!
We found a great Pizzeria in Neuvic which was really delicious and family friendly.
Also loved the beach in the forêt de Double and wine tasting at Montbazillac.
I think we may go home and buy a ping pong table too!

We've had the most fabulous time here. The cracking weather obviously helps, but even if it had rained, we couldn't have failed to have had a super time.
The cottage and gardens are just beautiful and the surrounding area is stunning.
The boys absolutely love it here and want to come back every week!!
You've been wonderful hosts and we thank you for the most amazing fig jam! This is a beautiful house, a beautiful region and we look forward to returning again and again (although maybe not weekly!).
We go away a lot heavier (fab bread!) a lot redder (suncream on kids, forgot about us!) and definitely a lot more relaxed.

Thank you all for a wonderful week at La Feuillade. Lovely cottage in gorgeous surroundings, and a great place to explore some fantastic sights; Bordeaux, Beynac, Domme and the suspended Jardins of Marqueyssac were some of our favorites. Brantome lovely too.

Thanks so much for opening your lovely lifestyle to others. The cottage is beautiful and the little touches such as flowers and candles made it all the more special.
Tony- your advice has been invaluable, and the care and respect you showed us all shall not be forgotten. The jams were beautiful- I wish I could have taken some home! And the eggs the chucks produced were like nothing I have ever tasted before. Felix, Ellie and Ollie are wonderful polite children and a credit to you both.
P.S You were lucky with the rounders - next time we will win by 10 runs!

Thanks so much Tony and Sonia, we have had a lovely time!
You are brilliant and thoughtful hosts with delicious homemade produce, and your knowledge of the area was invaluable.
All the meals we had are worth mentioning: Le Clos Joli, Le Flambée, Le Relais de Gabillou, Lou Marmitou's (trucker stop café, but with lovely food), but worth particular mention is Auberge Lou Peyrol, in Marcel du Perigord. It's about 40 mins drive but worth it for the starter alone. Fried Fois Gras, delicious!
Another must is to have a picnic down by the river, beautiful and peaceful.
We can go home well relaxed with our tails up!
PS. Definitely check out Sonia's brocante shop next to the main house, full of lovely finds!

The other Friday when I jogged and yoga'ed with S, then went to the dunes, and then got home in time for a superb indian feast- made and served by you- was an incredible day, surreal in it's beauty- down to the finest details in the stunning table lay-out and decoration and the flowers on the table. "We've had a wonderful 2 weeks here- Outstanding!"
It's a beautiful part of France & there is so much to see and do. Recommended places to visit are Bergerac, Brantome, St Astier market on Thursdays, St Jean de Cole, Bordeaux (use the park&ride and tram- well worth it), Monpazier, Limeuil.... Phew, don't forget to enjoy the pool! Look out for the kingfishers and coypou down at the river.

What a wonderful week of variety and contrasts! We have travelled through time from pre-history and beautiful cave paintings, to medieval castles, to the home of Josephine Baker, 1920's Folies Bergères dancer, resistance fighter and general philanthropist (Les Milandes).
We've eaten with the truckers at Lou Marmitou and in the cosy decadence of La Tupina (awesome recommendations Tony!)
From the busy streets of Bordeaux to sleepy villages, sunshine to wild thunderstorms, you can't find a much better place for experiencing the spice of life.
La Feuillade was more lovely than we could have imagined from the website- it had everything we needed and made a fantastic base for our expeditions as well as a wonderful retreat when we fancied a day or two of complete relaxation.
There is a real talent in this family for making the perfect holiday experience and giving little touches of delight everywhere you go, from the hand-painted signs to chicken chasing to fabulous advice and recommendations, we really couldn't have asked for more.

A return visit did not disappoint even though the welcoming weather soon succumbed to our presence. La Feuillade remains a special place to visit as a haven of peace and tranquility promoting a better perspective on life.
Of particular note this year are the gravel beds and changing gardens together with the adventure playground for children. Bear-hunting in the woodland, feeding chickens and swimming and playing in and around the pool were memorable experiences for our children.
Witnessing the early evening storm with the sun still setting on the trees, battered by the wind and torrential rain with a backdrop of thunder and lightening and a rainbow, whilst enjoying an obligatory candlelit dinner all contributed to another unforgettable holiday.
Most of all the hospitality, thoughtfulness, and the 'crack' with the Newells make the La Feuillade experience particularly worthwhile.

Easter has never been so fab! We've had a ball- a couple of dinner dances and a bijou tea party as well!
What a relaxing time - I've even reduced the number of times I look at my Blackberry- got it down to only 427 times a day - unreal!
You have a truly wonderful home and are a remarkable family. We have all enjoyed ourselves so much. the wine growers of the region will no doubt be working overtime to replenish the severe dent we have made in their supplies these past 10 days!
We arrived as grey faced, overworked townies and left as bronzed Adonis super hunks! We enjoyed our travels to Brantome, Bordeaux, Sarlat and St Emilion, and to the English cinema night in Mussidan. Your top tip about eating at La Tupina in Bordeaux was spot on. We'll be spending the next 3 weeks in the gym to make amends! Thanks for everything.

Our second visit to La Feuillade. We have enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of Sonia and Tony, not forgetting Felix and Ellie!
The new attractions include the river walk and the completed swimming pool. We have explored new walks from "Dordogne à pied" which are all fab, (especially St Laurent Des Hommes and Manzac Sur Vern). As we depart, it is with not a little envy and with considerable admiration for the "enterprise" that we bid you 'au revoir'.
La Feuillade proved to be a very good choice for experiencing rural life in France. The local special skill of 'puffling', the sampling of produits splendide du patron, the riverside views and wildlife, the exhilarating pool, the variety of weather, and especially the warm hospitality of the Newells contributed to an experience most pleasing to the senses.

We relaxed from the moment we arrived and you all made us very welcome. The Gîte is perfect and charming - everything we would desire for a holiday and extra details make it a really special place to stay. Anna loved the push-along bee, it made her giggle! We have enjoyed lazy breakfasts and relaxing evenings on the beautiful terraces. Thank you for sharing your discoveries with us - orchids, humming bird moths, La Jemaye Etang, St Emilion... We have had a lovely holiday and wish we could stay another week....or two!
